Valentine's Day Commercial

“Valentine’s Day is such a commercial holiday.”  What a sad, sad statement.  Where could this thought have possibly come from?  Was it made up by men who were either cheap, hurt by past loves, were not creative enough, or who have been brain-washed by their fellow friends who needed encouragement to stand by this belief?  Or was it made up by women who have been so disappointed over and over on Valentine's Day?

Seriously.. what holiday isn't a commercial holiday?  Halloween is highly advertised to get people to go out and buy silly looking costumes (of course creative ideas come gushing out for this special occasion).  Christmas is also heavily commercialized, but many of us still love putting that tree up and giving gifts. We have the ability to give and show our love all year long; yet, we still find ourselves engaged in the holiday celebrations.  So why can't Valentine's Day hold up to the same reputation as the other holidays?  There are no religious, racial, or murder ties to it.  It is simply based on the concept of love.  So why not go out and get that Russel Stover's Heart Box of chocolates and just say "Happy Valentine's Day".  It is not about showing someone you love them for one day of the year, but lighting up a spark within each of us and reminding us that it's okay to have a little cute-sy/cheesy fun.  It's about inspiring that little innocent childlike love in us.  It's about seeing the beauty of a man being a man, and a woman being a woman.  It's about reminding us that we could do this many more times throughout the year.

So let's stop with the commercialized thought of Valentine's Day and start celebrating!

Enjoy!

Speak your thoughts; Create your own moment

Other thoughts and perspectives welcome....  as long as you speak from your own moment (grammar errors are okay and so are things you may regret saying later; I make mistakes all the time!!)
